About
If I have to sum up my job-history into one word, I guess it has to be “varied”.
I started out as a helpdesk consultant answering phone calls from frustrated customers’ struggling to get online with analog modems and ISDN cards.
A task that often started out with listening to the incoherent rants off highly aggressive people, but usually ended up thanking them for their kind words, when they got online and could start surfing.
Since then I have been an IT-assistant at Oslo College, running a Netware based network, being webmaster for the faculty’s online course on web-publishing and assisting in the classrooms.
I have been a one-man IT-department for a company specializing in helping customers get an online presence, and creating a web-based CRM solution in the crazy dot-com years of the late nineties.
I have been the team leader for a much larger company’s hosting department and the CTO of a dedicated Hosting- startup company with good connections to MCI Worldcom – just before the dot-com bubble burst.
I have managed the infrastructure of call centers selling fish-oil pills, and locked down bastion host Linux servers for the AV-vendor Norman Data Defense – all during the same day..
Since 2004 I have been working as a consultant, first for Siemens Business Services and since early 2007 as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for the French consulting company Steria.
I am 40 years old this summer, I am married and have two great children of six and nine years.
I enjoy music, I used to be the lead singer in a local rock band here in Oslo, Norway in the nineties who acctually managed to release some albums and to some touring in Europe.
I still enjoy going to clubs to see rock’n’roll concerts with my friends.
I am a PADI scuba-diver and I am currently taking classes learning to sail sailboat
But most of my time is either spent at work or with my family, doing family stuff until the kids are in bed at night.
When they sleep I have a couple of hours I can spend reading up on technology by studying for an exam or just catching up on my favorite blogs.
-Or just putting my feet on the table and watching some TV shows with my wife
